Access Edit HTML in Dynamic Views Template

This short tutorial will show you how to access Edit HTML in dynamic views template

Editing HTML in Dynamic Views template in Blogger is not possible without this hack, the Edit HTML button is always disabled if you are using the Dynamic views template. 


So let's start with the hack, first open your Blogger Dashboard >> Template >> now have a look at your address bar, it will look like this (the blog id is different)

Replace blogger.g part with html , now it should look like this

You will be taken to the HTML edit of your blogger template which is Dynamic views, now you can add or remove HTML elements from your Dynamic views to fit your needs.

Show more than 200 comments on Blogger post

This tutorial will show you how to show more than 200 comments on Blogger posts

This tutorial will give answers to questions like "Why my blog post only show 200 comments", "why can't i see more than 200 comments on my post" and etc.


If you ever got over 200 comments on any of your blog post and then you see that you can't view more than 200 comments on that post and you worry about it. Blogger have no limits on number of comments on a post, but yet many people are facing this problem but can't sort out how to fix it. 


I will show you how to allow to show more than 200 comments on a blog post, so that you can see everyone's feedback. The problem in this is that comments location is set to Embedded by default and Embedded comments only shows 200 comments, i will guide you through how to change embedded to something else that will show 200 comments.


I will show step-by-step instruction with screenshot, so that you can understand it easily. There are different procedures for different version of blogger interface.

Old Blogger InterfaceNew Blogger Interface

Do it in New Blogger Interface

We will do it fast, first of all you have to log into your Blogger account

1. Now go to the Settings menu of your blog
   
   
2. Click on 'Post and Comments' under 'Settings'
   
   
3. Once you clicked on Post and Comments , you will see options about Comments and Posts, under Comments there you will see Comments Location
4. You just have to change it from Embedded to Full Page or Popup Window to let your page show over 200 comments
   
   
5. Now click on Save Settings on top of the page and preview it.

Do it in Old Interface

Let's see how to make it work in the old interface.

1. Log into your Blogger account
2. Click on Settings under the blog title on the home page
   
3. Under Settings menu click on Comments
   
   
4. Next to Comment Form Placement option select Full page or Popup Window
   
   
5. Now Save Changes and done !

Backup the Blog Template in Blogger

A short and easy guide how to backup your template of your blogger blog, so that you will always have a copy of working template.

I have decided to make this post small so that you can do your work faster than just reading my text, i have provided screenshots so that you can easily understand.

This tutorial covers guide on how to backup template in blogger in both New and Old Blogger Interface

How to Backup in New Blogger Interface

First i will show how to backup the template in New Blogger Interface, as most of the Bloggers now use New Interface. Follow the step-by-step instructions with picture demos.

1. Log into your Blogger Dashboard and select Template from the drop down list next to your blog
   
   
2. On the Template page, see the right top corner, there you will see a "Backup/Restore" button
   
   
3. Click on it and a box will appear, there will be two option, one is to Download the full template and other will be to Upload a template. Click on "Download the full template" and your download will start.
4. The XML template will be saved on your computer and you can keep it for future, so if you make any mistakes in editing the template you always have copy of working template

There's no limit of how many times you can download the template, whenever you feel you want a backup of your template, just use this to keep a backup of your template.

How Backup template in old interface

If you are yet using the Blogger old interface then the instruction below will help you to backup your template in old UI

1. Log into your Blogger account, on the Dashboard click on Design under your blog
   
   
2. After clicking on Design , click on Edit HTML under the Design tab
   
   
3. Below the Backup/Restore section in Edit HTML page, click on Download full template

Once you click on Download full template your backup template will be downloaded

Transfer a blog from one account to another Account

This tutorial will show you how to transfer control of a blog from one account to another, it's easy.

There can be many reason for which you want to transfer a blog from one account to other account, but people who don't have much experience with Blogger will find difficulties doing this themselves. The transfer of blog over two accounts can be useful, because if you have two account related to that blog, it will be easier to take control of the blog if for any reason your account gets deleted.

You can make Blogger account with not only Google account but any account like yahoo, hotmail etc. (but later you have to sign-up for a Google profile too)

To transfer the blog over two accounts, follow the step-by-step procedures, with picture demonstration it will be easier to understand.

1. Login to your Blogger account at blogger.com  
2. On your dashboard, select Settings option for the blog
   
                                                    
3. Now in Basic tab under Settings, in Permissions section there will be an option/link +Add Authors, click on it and a pop-up will appear to enter an email address you want to add as an author (or admin).
   
   
4. Now open your other email account and you may have received a mail from Google/Blogger about the blog contribution invite.
   
   
5. Visit the link you will be redirected to Blogger, if you aren't logged in, log in there
   
   
6. After accepting the invitation you will be made the Author of the blog. Author can't make any changes to the blog, it can only make posts. To make him an Admin go to your old account which is already admin of the blog and next to your new email address click on Author and select Admin from drop down list
   
   
7. Once you select Admin, the email can have full control over the blog.
8. If you want you remove any email address connected to the blog if you are an admin. 

An Admin on a blog can do anything, like deleting post, changing address, changing the template etc. It also have the ability to remove other admins and authors on the blog too.

Be careful while adding someone as an Admin, only give them this privilege if you trust them, because they will have full control over blog.

Tip: Using two browsers when doing this can save your time (to open up two accounts at the same time).

How to add CSS to your blogger blog

In this tutorial you will learn how to add custom styles to your blog with CSS on Blogger.

CSS is plays an important role in presentation of a blog or website. In Blogger users are allowed to style their blog, but if you are new to Blogger or just don't know about CSS and HTML you might find it difficult to find the right way to do it. So how do you add your custom CSS in Blogger? You will get the answer in this tutorial, for you to understand it better I have also included screenshots.

There are two ways to add CSS to your blog template. I prefer to use te hEdit HTML mode, it's good for professional web designer, and I suggest to use basic Add CSS option in blogger for peoples who are new to web.

There are two ways to add CSS codes to your blog template. One is using the HTML template editor where you can put the code according to your needs anywhere in the document. And other is to use 'Add CSS' GUI option provided in the visual template designer.

For general users I suggest the Add CSS option as it doesn't require code editing and all, but in some cases you might need more control on how you want that CSS to be loaded (for example, if you want to load a CSS only on item pages) in such cases using the HTML Template editor is the only choice.

Using Add CSS in Template Designer

Note: Since the recent Blogger UI update the "Template" section is now called "Theme"

Blogger have included an Add CSS option, where you can just copy and paste the CSS styles code and it will be applied to the template. Let's see where's that option.

Blogger has a rich set of template designing tool that you can use to change colors, fonts and layout of your blog without writing even a line of code. The template designer also allows you to define your own styles using CSS to apply on the blog. To access that option follow the instruction below :

1. Go to your Blogger dashboard at http://www.blogger.com/home
2. Now select the blog from the list (if you have multiple) and go the its "Theme" section on the left pane.
   
   
3. In the Theme section, click on the button that says "Customize" and you will be taken to the Template Designer page
4. Select the Advance tab from the list of options on left pane and from the sub-menu list select Add CSS, it's at very bottom.
   
   
5. Now in right pane, there will be an input area where you can paste your CSS styles
   
   

In this procedure you won't be able to edit the existing CSS code in your template, you will only be able to add new styles and can only edit the styles that you added using the template designer.

You don't need to add the HTML elements such as <style type="text/css"></style> , we can paste the CSS styles directly. Adding those elements may result in error.

Adding it using the HTML Template Editor

You can also directly add CSS syles in your template code, but working in the HTML template editor can be difficult for users who don't have much experience with HTML and CSS. As lot of markup codes are lying there already, a general user might feel a bit unformtable, but once you start working with codes you will find it interesting.

1. Go to your blogger dashboard at blogger.com/home 
2. And from drop-down menu of the blog select Theme
   
   
3. After going to Template menu, click on Edit HTML button to open the template code editor on the page
   
   
   
   
   
4. Now using the default find-on-page function (by default CTRL+F ) and find </head> and paste your CSS code (inside <style>) and paste it above </head>. Do remember to include the first and last line in the following code around your CSS rule when adding it above the closing </head> tag d
   
   

   <style type="text/css">
   /* This is a comment, and follow is a CSS rule */
   body
   {
   color:#999;
   background-color:whiteSmoke;
   font-family:"Georgia", Helvetica, sans-serif;
   }
   </style>
   

   
   The CSS styles are just for example.
   
   Other way
   You can paste your CSS styles by putting the HTML markup (in green) above and below your raw CSS code and then paste it above </head> in the template

Remember to Backup your template before making any changes to it. To Backup your template Go to Blogger Dashboard >> Theme tab >> On top right corner there will be a Backup/Restore button and then download the template, if anything went wrong we can restore it to working template by uploading it there. 

Switch off word verification for comments in Blogger

Many bloggers have complained about how to switch off word verification for blogger blogs, the process is really easy.

These days reCaptcha word verifications are getting harder and due to this readers don't like to post comments on blogs those switched on word verification. 

The process to switch it off is easy and don't need to be a professional to do this, you will feel comfortable with pictures demonstrations. 

The option to switch off word verification is not available in 'New Blogger Interface', so first we have to go back into old Blogger Interface, to do that follow the step-by-step procedures explained in easy English, not too technical language though.

1. Log into blogger.com 
2. Now on top of the page there will be a gear icon on top right corner of the page
3. Click on it and a list will appear, and click on Old Blogger Interface
   
   
   
   
   
   

After clicking on Old Blogger Interface, we will be taken back to the good old interface we used to work in, now we have to find right place where we can make changes to word verification settings, finding it in these large menus becomes little difficult but i will explain with screenshots.

1. On dashboard click on 'Settings' under the blog you want to switch off word verification for comments.
   
   
2. Under settings menu there will be a sub-menu 'Comments' click on it.
   
   
3. After you click on 'Comments' scroll down to 10th option where you can make changes to word verification settings, just check mark 'NO' if you don't want word verification in your blog.
   
   

Scroll down and click on 'Save Settings'.
Now you can switch back to 'New Blogger interface', you will see the option on top, click on it and you will be taken back to the 'New Blogger interface'

Quickedit don't show anymore! Why ?

We will talk about why Blogger don't show Quickedit (the pencil icon) on blogs to edit gadgets on site when logged in.
On January 30th Google started country specific URL redirection, which turns http://stramaxon.blogspot.com/ to http://stramaxon.blogspot.au/ If it's accessed from Australia, it's only for blogs that don't have it's own domain name but an .blogspot.com sub-domain .

The quickedit is not shown because of this, you will only be able to see quickedit pencil icon in .com domains, but because your blog redirects you to .au or .in you won't be able to see quickedit icon.

What if i want quickedit back ?

1. NCR-No Country Redirection : You can easily get back the quickedit buttons on your blog by just putting ncr at end of the blog address, suppose my blog address is http://stramaxon.blogspot.com put ncr at end of the address and it will look like this http://stramaxon.blogspot.com/ncr  

2. Hide-my-ip : You can get quickedit icon back by using hide-my-ip software, that will hide your identity that you are in India or Australia etc. and thus it will redirect your blog to you .com and if you are logged in into your blog you will see pencil icon next to your gadgets on page

3. Hide my Ass : Hide my ass also provides same features as hide-my-ip, but with hide my ass you can see a site on the go without installing any softwares.

Will it effect my Page Rank and Search ranks ?

The redirection of .com to country specific URL redirection will not have any effect to your page rank or search ranks, Google will always see your blog address as .com , it only changes if you access the blog from countries where Google redirects URL to country specific URLs.

You will see changes in Alexa rankings if you search your blog as www.myblog.blogspot.au or .in , but it doesn't matter as i said Google will always see your blog address as it used to be.

One final way is to settle in USA.
