If you are trying to add / edit the "Pages" widget on your Blogger blog's layout you may have noticed that it isn't working lately.

Blogger Interface Has Become A Complete Mess

Since I started Blogging, Blogger CMS was my first choice, because it performs better than any CMS out there. But from some weeks, it's behaving strangely and doesn't work smooth as it used to before.

If we go back in the past, the only problem people faced with the New Blogger Interface was some BX Error Codes and it doesn't used to appear instantly, it was rare, only appeared when you make some invalid move on the CMS. Which we can call the client side mistake.

But some Weeks or month the Blogger CMS has become more unstable, I don't mean the whole Blogger CMS but only the New Blogger Interface. Both interfaces were coded differently but do the same job. Anyway, back when both Interface were available, we had the option to revert into Old Interface if we faced problems in the New Interface but now we can't even do that because Old Interface has been removed permanently from Blogger.

These problems have decreased the fun writing on Blogger. It's very messy when the post don't get Published even after click the Publish button, it throws error every time.

Post Publishing/Saving Issue

The first job of a Blogging Tool is to save and post that content on the website smoothly without any problems, it was really smooth in the past but from a month or two it has gone wild and doesn't save nor publish the post at the time we push the Publish button. (Even at the time of publishing this post, I faced the problem).

Also when you click the Publish button multiple times, it post multiple posts in the background and also create extra Drafts and that's very messy to work with.

Some Settings Are Not Saved

I don't even want to make any changes to my blogs settings, as it have gone mad too. You change some settings and after that you click the Save settings button, you see a message saying "Settings Save" but no, the setting haven't changed.

I am facing it and very disappointed because my blog is not available at http://stramaxon.com (Without www.) First I thought it has some with the CNAME records, I went to my Domain management Dashboard and it's all well.I returned to Blogger and saw that I haven't check marked the option in Settings that says
Redirect stramaxon.com to www.stramaxon.com.I checked the option and Save the settings, but no matter how many times you save the settings, the check mark never stays there, it disappears and the settings is still the same as it was and because of that I am not able to redirect stramaxon.com to www.stramaxon.com

Do You Face any other Problems ?

If you have some different problems related to Blogger or the New Blogger Interface then drop your comments and also remember to use the Send Feedback button on the bottom right corner of Blogger Dashboard, it can help your problem reach the Blogger team.

Social Share Count Fluctuated After Custom Domain Change

If your are on Blogger or any other website being run on a sub-domain for example .blogspot.com or .wordpress.com you have the option to have your own purchased domain on it but if you have did it already then you would have noticed the share count on post are all reset.

Are you using social share plugins from AddThis or a self made code that works for blogger automatically in the template ? Let's say you have 100s of +1, Tweets or Like on one of your post and all the shares were made when your blog was on the sub-domain (eg. .blogspot.com, .wordpress.com) but when you changed the domain to your own purchased domain what you see is all shares have been reset.

If you don't have much information about these then at first you will shocked because all the shares on your hard work are not there anymore but is that true, should it be called an issue ?

What's the reason

If you know how the share buttons work and how the web works then you don't need to read this but many people who don't have the knowledge about it would be tensed about it. The reason is that the shares were made when your blog was on blogspot domain eg.
http://yourblog.blogspot.com/2012/03/some-post.html
And the social sites will send data to the share counters that redirects to this URL but when the URL is changed the counters are redirected to other URL (your new domain) and it then count shares for
http://yourblog.com/2012/03/some-post.html
If you try to add a code that will redirect to your old domain then you will see back the counters to normal as it fetches the count for the old URL but you shouldn't do it.

What to do ?

If you ask me I would  just sit back and relax, it won't have any bad effect on your blog. If the redirection of your old blog domain to the new custom domain is working then you don't need to worry at all because the old shares for the sub-domain are yet on the social sharing sites.

You need to remember that social sharing widget don't see your blog it sees the URL.

Sidebar shifted to bottom of Blog in Blogger - Fix it

Sometimes errors in Bloggers are frustrating, especially when it's with the look of the blog. No one wants their blog to look cluttered. Sidebar shifting to bottom of the page is one of the most common error in Blogger. This post will tell you the reason and solution of it.

The reason behind it is bad HTML in one or more posts and whenever the post is being displayed on the page, the sidebar shifts to the bottom. The bad HTML can be heavy HTML codes or ill-formed HTML codes.

If you view the post with errors the sidebar will shift to the bottom of the page, which makes it look ugly. You anyhow want to to fix it, so here's the way to fix it.

How to fix it ?

Let's come to the point, it can be fixed by correcting the errors in HTML code of the post. If you see the sidebar shifting bottom on the homepage, then you can distinguish that one of the post in Homepage contains bad HTML.

To make it easier you can open each post on Homepage in a new tab and then analyze if the sidebar shifts to the bottom in that post page. If you open the post which consist the Bad HTML, you will see the sidebar shifted to bottom.

Steps to fix it : The method is easy and working. You don't need to be an HTML expert to fix bad HTML in Blogger, you can easily fix it by following these steps.
  1. Go to Blogger Dashboard | Post List
  2. Now open the post which contains the bad HTML (read the text above), or if you can figure out which post contains errors than you can open each post which you can see on homepage one by one in Post Editor.
  3. Once you have the post opened in Post Editor you will see Compose and HTML modes in the Post Editor on top left of page.
  4. All you have to do is switch between Compose and HTML, few times, maybe 4 or 5
  5. At end leave it on Compose mode and Save or Update.
Once you do it with the post which contains errors, you will see the sidebar on it's right place again.

Remember, you have to do it with post which contains bad HTML and to find out which is that post, you open each and every post in new tab and check if the sidebar is in bottom when opened that post, if you opened a post and the sidebar is at bottom then open that post in Post Editor and do what i listed above.

If it doesn't seem to work for you, please leave comments with your blog address and specify your problem. Also, you may seek help on Blogger Help Forum.

How to get rid of these BX error codes

Bx-error codes are mysterious but annoying error which has become every blogger users nightmare and that puts them from using Blogger. Writing this post to help you get rid of these BX-error codes.

Update : Here's an explained reason and the source of the bX-1io90b and bX-7ubjdv errors from the Blogger Team http://knownissues.blogspot.com/2012/06/bx-1io90b-bx-7ubjdv.html

Bx-error codes are issued everywhere at anytime on Blogger, edit Template or Post, people are getting these errors in every section of their Blogger Interface. If you head to the Something is Broken category of Blogger Help Forum you will see 90% of posts with issues regarding these mysterious Bx-codes.

Many users even can't get into the Dashboard, rather they are issued Bx-error codes, now what they can do to resolve this. The most Common Bx-error code which users are issued when logging on is this bX-74br4.

There are many other Bx-error codes which have taken in many users in tension and keep them away from Blogger. Only because of the bx-error many bloggers have migrated to WordPress or other Blogging Platform.

Here's a list of Bx-error that has been issued newly and posted on the Something is Broken   category in the BHF (Blogger Help Forum).

  • bX-1io90b (posted on BFH two or more times)
  • bX-iio90b
  • bX-2f02sn
  • bX-45bok
  • bX-wyhxrb  (posted on BFH two or more times)
  • bX-74br4  (posted on BFH two or more times)
  • bX-7ubjdv  (posted on BFH two or more times)
  • bX-qx5epp
  • bX-hzwrm3
  • bX-j8un7q
  • bX-urojig
  • bX-z4kpa4
  • bX-a9cw3d
  • bX-tmzlss
I will mention some ways to keep these Bx-errors way from your blogger interface. Even if you use methods mentioned here don't forget to report the bx-error code by using the 'Send Feedback' button on bottom right corner in your Blogger. Also try posting in Blogger Help Forum and also post your Bx-error code with your full details on this thread.

Use updated browsers : Sometimes bx-error codes are generated when you use an outdated and not to advanced browser such as Internet Explorer, many users have seen to resolve some bx-error codes when they operated Blogger on an Advanced browser such as Google Chrome

Edit your Template code carefully : One of the most common section in Blogger where Bx-error codes are generated is where you Edit HTML, when you makes changes to your Template and click on Save, you will sometimes see the bx-errors, even if you know that the code is correct they issue Bx-error codes, sometimes when you make unnecessary deletion of a code in XML then it's obvious that you will get an error. It is seen that if you don't nest your XML codes properly then also you see the bx-codes because the Blogger Template is XML and proper nesting is required in order to save changes in the Template.
Know more about nesting properly in XML
http://www.w3schools.com/xmL/xml_syntax.asp
Old Interface for using Blogger : The commonly issued Bx-error code bX-74br4 when logging in to dashboard is caused by the New Blogger Interface, the new Interface isn't ready yet, actually it can be used but you need an updated browser, as mentioned above.

Using the old Blogger interface is seen to be a good way to completely keep away the bx-error codes. You can revert back to the old interface by logging in to your Blogger Dashboard > Click on the 'Gear' icon on top right corner of the page > Select 'Old Blogger Interface' from the drop down list.
If you aren't getting the option in drop down list then try this
http://stramaxon.blogspot.in/2012/06/how-to-get-into-old-blogger-interface.html

These methods have worked most of the times and if you try you can also keep bx-error codes away from your Blogger interface. If the problem don't seem to be solved by these ways then post your question on Blogger Help Forum

How to get into Old Blogger Interface even the option is not available ?

Blogger have announced to discontinue the old Interface in Blogger, but in some countries the interface already has been removed or the option to revert back to old Interface is no longer available. In this tutorial i will show you how to get into the old Blogger GUI even the option isn't available.

Important: This tweak doesn't work any longer. The Old Interface has been completely removed from the Blogger servers, so you can't restore it any way. Please read this about for more info.

Blogger is going to spoil it's own fun in coming months but in some countries it already did it. It's been a quiet long time after the launch of the New Blogger GUI (Graphical user Interface), but the Old Interface was also available on a click on a button. The option is available for Blogger users, but i have seen several cases where the user don't have the option to revert back to the old Blogger GUI.

Does that mean, Old Blogger interface is slowing being removed, this change has been experienced by some Bloggers only but many Bloggers need to revert back to old Blogger GUI because you know the BX-error codes that the new Interface issues us.

The New Interface is yet buggy and need many things need to be fixed but the Blogger support team don't seem to be interested or worried about these BX-error codes, these are mysterious codes which is a nightmare to every blogger. But if you don't get the option to remove it, then imagine how annoying it would be.

Users are issued BX-error codes at anytime and there's no specific activity for it to appear, whatever you do from editing post to changing your settings, people are being issued these Bx-errors in every section.

The only solution - The only solution that we have to avoid these Bx-error is to revert back to the old Template. But because some users are not even getting the option to revert back which was in the 'Gear' icon on top right corner of the Blogger Dashboard.

How to get into the Old Interface ?

Coming to the point of the post, how to get back into the old Blogger Interface. Actually normal users will find it difficult but that was an easy task. It's all about tweaking the URL that will take you back to the Old Interface, URL was one of the different between new and old Interface and that's how they are differentiated .

Follow these steps to get in the Old Interface.

1. We will take an URL that's will help you go back to old GUI, so this is the URL

http://www.blogger.com/posts.g?blogID=7684209674460696977

So this the URL, but wait don't try to load this URL now.

2. Now you need to get your blogID to replace the number highlighted in Yellow

http://www.blogger.com/posts.g?blogID=7684209674460696977

So to find your Blogger address you can take help of the New Interface, go to your Blogger Dashboard | Click on Any tab, let's click on 'Template' tab. Have a look at your address bar and you will see a number followed by 'blogID=' you just need that number.

3. Replace my blogID with your blogId

http://www.blogger.com/posts.g?blogID=7684209674460696977

Here, i replace the blogID with my test blog's blogID and then the URL is this.

http://www.blogger.com/posts.g?blogID=8150410838963189456

Once you replace the BlogID with your own BlogID, you can load the URL and it will take you to the Old Blogger Interface.

I am sure that it will work if you aren't getting the option to revert back to the old blogger Interface, you can see that it worked with this guy who were not be given the option for old blogger Interface.

'Shabby Blogs' is detected as a Malware site

Shabby Blogs, a well known website for Bloggers to design their blogs with backgrounds, buttons, tutorials and many more things has been blacklisted on Google.

Shabby Blogs http://shabbyblogs.com/ , has been suddenly blacklisted on Google for spreading malware. 'Shabby Blogs' has been a good source of designs for many blogger's.

But something happened strange, all Blogs and Websites using 'Shabby Blogs' elements started displaying warning message that if you proceed to the site your computer might catch virus.

I came to know about it in Blogger Help Forum in this thread, as i never used ShabbyBlogs add-on i don't exactly know how it's used. The ShabbyBlogs website is also displaying an warning message, so people can avoid visiting the site.

I am not sure what happened to ShabbyBlogs, had it been hacked ? Is it some internal errors from Google spam systems ? God knows.

But if you are using ShabbyBlogs add-ons on your blog remove it completely or Google will start display warning messages for your blog too.

I will update if i get more information on what's happening to ShabbyBlogs.

Displaying wrong Authorship in Google search results ?

One of the best feature 'Authorship markup' is obviously great for authors of blogs and websites, it takes some time to update in Google Search results but feels good when it do, it gives more accessibility for users to see the author of the blog. But the fun is ruined because of some errors that Google is facing.Let's talk
After the launch of Google+ thousands of people started verifying their authorship for their Blog to get a good display in the search results, it's very useful for SEO, at least people like to view sites that have authorship verified because it looks professional then.

When i added the tags to verify my authorship, it took some days to properly show in the Google search results. It's feels very good to have some credits on the search results.

But a major issue has arisen, the first time i saw it was in Blogger Help Forum in this thread where a woman faced this issue and to get some help she posted the question on the forum. It feels awkward when someone else is credited for your work, wouldn't it ? The problem was not as easy to understand as i thought, the issue was very new to me and i didn't even knew what to do. But there are some points which you may remember and understand.
  1. There were no authorship markup tag to the incorrectly display author information Google account
  2. When checked in Webmaster Rich Snippet tools it didn't showed any verified markup
  3. There was no link to the blog (which was displaying wrong author info.) in the 'About' section of the Google+ account that was appearing in the Google search of that blog.
All these three points tells us that it's an error that is done by the Google system, because none of the people who owns the Blog, who is being appearing on a blog that they don't author.

I was not sure how to help with that question and was new to the problem, first of all i checked the blog's source code and i didn't find tag that cause any other Google account to show on the authorship information on the search results. Now i was confused myself, but thought about it for a minute and came up with solution that will work correctly.

The idea was to redirect your Google profile to make it appear on under your blog's search results. When someone's else profile is showing under your blog authorship info then why not your's will display when you add your markup tags ?

You just need to know how to add Authorship markup to your Blogger Blog, i have also written it on the thread in a reply or just check this tutorial

Now check your your blog in Rich Snippet Testing tool if you did everything correct (adding authorship tag) then a demo preview will be display, but your blog will not show Authorship markup, as it takes some days for it to successfully appear in the search results. It took about 10 days or more for me.

Here how it looks when you implemented the authorship markup validation tags to your blogs HTML. Just remember to add a good looking photo of yours of 260px*260px it's ideal size picture to be displayed on Google search results.

But what if it's not even showing correctly in the Rich Snippet tools or you are facing other problems that don't seem to be fixed ? Then refer to these forums

If you are sure that your problem is what we posted about and still no success, then please post these details in the Comments
  • Full Name
  • Blog Address
  • Search term where you see wrong authorship info.
  • Google+ account (if you have one)
That's it, we will try our best investigate your issue and help you.

Beware of ww4(dot)savegco.antivir(dot)com

The website ww4. savegco.anitvir .com is a problem to many new Blogger and website owners, they have complaint suddent change in their Stats and can see this website as referring site. Let's see what's it.
This website have become a headache of many Bloggers, you have probably seen it on your Stats in Referring sites section, but wait, is it ok? are real people seeing your site referring from the site mentioned ?

Update : We think these referral spams have now cooled down and it's effects are getting down. But now a new type of spam is rising, so beware of it. You can read about it here http://stramaxon.blogspot.com/2012/07/anonymous-comments-on-blogs-beware-its.html

No ! It's not all okay, the site is an spam site and contains Malicious viruses, they appear to refer some visitors to your site, but they are not really, it's all their computer which is increasing your Pageviews to get a place in your Stats, and when somebody sees they might just click on it, nothing can be worse than that, clicking on these links are dangerous, if you don't have a good antivirus, then they can do anything means anything. So beware of these spams, not clicking on those links are the only way to get rid of these.

This is not the only website which is in news for referrer spams, there are more website's that you might see in your stats that may be suspicious, here you can have a list of domains which are not bit famous for referrer spam.
  1. www4(dot)savegco-antivir(dot)com/
  2. www4(dot)safe-vochecker(dot)com/
  3. hoodiastock(dot)com/
  4. domar(dot)ru/

  5. www3(dot)bestbxcleaner(dot)com/
  6. www4(dot)best-aruchecker(dot)com/
  7. www3(dot)personal-scanera(dot)com/
  8. www3(dot)bestbxcleaner(dot)com/
I have replaced the . with (dot) so that you don't click on any of the links mistakenly and catch a malware or virus from any of these sites. There are more referrer spam sites you might see in your stats, so if you feel the links is not related to your content then just prevent from clicking on the links, as the main aim of these sites are to make you click on their links, if you find any new domain that you think is suspicious, free feel to let us know and we will post the link here.

We want our Blogger network to be clean and green, so if you see any links in your Stats then please think twice before clicking it.
If you want to learn more then you can check NiteCruzr's (TC in Blogger help forum) blog.
http://blogging.nitecruzr.net/ 2011/11/referer-spam-does-not- represent-real.html

Owners of newer blogs, with less established traffic, will see their pageview counts fluctuate more.

http://blogging.nitecruzr.net/ 2011/09/referer-spam-war- leads-to-fluctuations.html

Referer spam affects Stats, and similar website activity log summaries - but third party activity logs will be immune to its effects.

http://blogging.nitecruzr.net/ 2011/10/blogger-magic-third- party-visitor-logs.html

Be aware how Stats is unique - which leads to this problem.

http://blogging.nitecruzr.net/ 2012/03/what-does-stats- provide-that-third.html

Stop clicking on the links in your Stats logs.  That's the only way to make referer spam stop.

Blogger Page Title doesn't show correctly for Dynamic templates in Firefox

Blogger's blog are facing problem to show the accurate Page Title on Firefox tab, instead of showing the Page Title, it's shows the Url

Blogger Blogs with Dynamic template aren't showing page title on Tab of Firefox, every blog with Dynamic template is affected and when opened in Firefox, it doesn't shows the Page title on tab, but shows the full Blog Address.

I am not sure what's causing it, is it the Firefox or the Blogger ?  But this is really annoying, however it shows the Page title for post pages well but creates problem with Home page.

I am trying my best to figure it out what's the exact problem, i will update this post after i have some updates about this problem, hope Blogger will also try to fix this problem. I hope someone from Google sees my post and do something about this.

If you have any idea about this please reply in comments.

This is tested with Latest version of Firefox (11) and still the problem occurs. Someone need to fix it as soon as possible, i am trying my best.

White Blank box showing up on my Blog page - How to fix it?

Are you seeing blank white box on your blog or website page, those box looks too weird on the our website or blog, so this tutorial post will show what it is and how to remove it.
It all started to happen today, if you ask me what it is, my answer will be that it's a bug from facebook plugins code, Facebook is having some problems with their scripts, and thus blog page are showing iFrame on blog pages. The White box is a iframe, which is executed from the Facebook plugins code.

I came to know about this on Blogger Help Forum, i thought this problem was only of that user, but similar posts were posted by the users, then it was sure that it was problem of the Facebook plugins code after i examined the HTML code of the pages. The iframes are being usually showerd on top of the page. See this screenshot, it's from a blog that was facing the problem.

The Exact code, that's creating the problem is Facebook's JavaScript SDK, which we need to add to our HTML to show Facebook plugins, not it's gone buggy and creating iframes on Blogger. Removing it may remove the boxes (iframe) from the page, but also disable all Facebook plugin such as Like buttons, comments etc on the Blog. So we will use different method to remove it.

After seeing more blogs, i saw that the iframe is only showing on which the Facebook like box is being displayed.

How to fix it?

Let's don't waste much time and get to the main point, how to hide it. To remove them permanently from template is little difficult, because it requires you to remove the code from your template which runs Facebook like button and other plugins, so we will hide it with CSS.

Fortunately, the two iframe have been classed, so we can easily hide it without any difficulties. Follow the Step-by-step instructions.

  1. Log into your Blogger dashboard
  2. Copy this small CSS code
    #fb_xdm_frame_http, #fb_xdm_frame_https {
    display:none !important;
    }

  • We have to add this CSS, so go to Template tab

  • Click on Customize and then select Advanced tab

  • Scroll down, and click on Add CSS, you will then see a input area, just paste the CSS code there.

  • We only need the CSS code, the rest of the steps can be seen on my How to add CSS to your blogger tutorial

If you think, this is not working then please post your Blog address in comments below, we will tryour best to help you.
